My "Why"
My journey began in a challenging home environment, growing up with an absent, alcoholic father and being raised by a single mother alongside my two younger brothers. As the oldest, I learned early what responsibility, sacrifice, and resilience really mean.
At 13 years old, my life changed forever when I was crushed by a large boulder while hiking, resulting in the amputation of part of my foot. That moment could have defined the rest of my life, but instead it became the first of many turning points that taught me how to rise, rebuild, and refuse to quit.
After years of rehabilitation and overcoming the limitations others placed on me, I went on to become a firefighter/paramedic, serving my community in all types of high-stress emergencies. I gave that career everything I had for 18 years, until the devastating effects of PTSD took over and I left the fire service and the work I loved.
What followed was one of the hardest seasons of my life. I battled depression, alcohol abuse, and the pain of nearly losing my family and my identity. But at my lowest point, I chose to seek help. Through therapy and healing, I began to realize that my life was not over — it was being reshaped for a greater purpose.
Just as I began to rise again, I was knocked down once more by injury, this time requiring a second amputation of half my foot. But this time, I met adversity with a stronger mindset and a deeper belief in what was possible. I recovered in record time, pushed beyond expectations and limits placed on me, and continued forward with purpose.
Today, I use my pain as my purpose. I am passionate about coaching and speaking to help others rise above their own challenges, build resilience, and discover that even in the hardest moments, a meaningful and powerful life is still possible.
I am a dedicated family man with an incredible wife and two amazing daughters. Creating new experiences is incorporated in our family values, along with honesty, integrity, gratitude and fitness. We enjoy spending time together camping, paddleboarding, mountain biking, skiing, wakesurfing, and everything else outdoors (especially when these involve tacos).
I believe our hardest chapters can become the foundation for our greatest impact, and I now help others turn adversity into growth, strength, and purpose.
